Speaking during a reception organised for him as grand patron of Ikwerre Youth Movement (IYM) in Rivers state, Amaechi said the general election will be the party’s last battle. He said President Muhammadu Buhari will ensure that the elections will be free and fair. Amaechi, who is an ex-governor of the state, said there would no imposition of candidates by the APC during its primaries. He urged the people to register so they can exercise their franchise. “The 2019 elections, especially the governorship, are our last battle. If we win, we will take over Rivers State. If we lose in the election, we will go home and rest,” Amaechi said. “We will not impose any candidate. Anybody who will go for any position, like chairmanship, should go for primaries. The deceased, attached to Igbologun Police Station, Snake Island, Lagos State, was said to have been killed by her husband during a quarrel over his alleged lover, Egnes. The incident occurred on November 20, about 10p.m., at Number 10, Sholake Street, Iju-Ishaga area of the metropolis. Before Mariam got married to Uche, she already had three children. She married Uche three years ago who also came into the marriage with a daughter. Trouble was said to have started when Egnes visiting Uche whenever Mariam goes to office. Mariam wouldn’t have known of the alleged clandestine visits, but for some neighbours. One of Mariam’s brothers, Mr. Kelvin Ndu, said that he and other family members learnt about Mariam’s death the following day. The African Union mission in Washington DC expressed its "shock, dismay and outrage" and said the Trump administration misunderstood Africans. The US leader made the alleged remark in a Thursday meeting on immigration. But Mr Trump has denied using the language reported. He has been backed by two Republicans who were at the White House meeting, but Democratic Senator Dick Durbin said Mr Trump called African countries "shitholes" several times and used "racist" language. On Friday, Mr Trump on Friday tweeted that his language he used at the private meeting with lawmakers to discuss immigration legislation had been "tough". He also explained how they prepared for the massacre in Omoku, Rivers State, in which the gang killed 22 residents returning from church. The Actress and Director who has been in Italy for a few days in partnership with the international medical humanitarian organization - Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and SOS Mediterranee, came face to face with the realities yesterday when she met one-on-one with some rescued victims of human trafficking. She met with the women, listened to their stories and shared with them. It got even more interesting when the women decided to prepare a meal together, sing and exchange hand-made gifts. It was truly a heartwarming experience as hope was renewed in their midst. Following her meeting with the women, she also visited United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) office where she was given a deeper insight into the operations of the organization in Italy.
