15-year -old arrested for having sex with a goat

Kabiru Idi, a 15 year old has been arrested by the Niger state Police Command for having sex with a goat roaming around the neighborhood. He  was reported by neighbors the police operatives attached to Kpakungu Division in Minna who following a tip-off got to Idi’s residence to catch him in the act.  Neighbors who spoke after the arrest said that this is the second time the suspect has committed the same offence in the area as they stated that they are getting wary of the acts of the teenager expressing fear over his preferences, The Nation learnt.  Babalola Adewole , the State Pooice Public Relations Officer who confirmed the incident applauded the operatives attached to Kpakungu police Division on patrol for apprehending the suspect adding that the suspect would be charged to court on conclusion of investigations.  Babalola, urged members of the public to always report any suspicious person to the nearest police station in their areas to help police to carry out its duties

Zimbabwe’s Harare International Airport To Be Renamed After President Mugabe

A terse statement issued in early September by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe read: “Aeronautical Information Regulation and Control (AIRAC): With effect from 9 November 2017 Harare International Airport will be renamed R. G. Mugabe International Airport.” R. G. are the initials for Robert Gabriel – Mugabe’s other names. People have been reacting to the move because it is the second national asset in recent times to be named after Mugabe – who is leader of the ruling Zanu-PF and its flagbearer going into poll slated for next year. Journalists killed while covering a protest

Today, 28-year old Indian journalist Shantanu Bhowmick was killed in the North-Eastern Indian state of Tripura while covering a protest.  According to the state’s police chief AK Shukla, the reporter from Dinraat news channel, was attacked and abducted late Wednesday while he was at protests held by the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura. Bhowmick was later found with multiple stab wounds and died by the time he reached the hospital. So far, Four members of the IPFT, an organisation representing tribal people, have been detained for questioning.  This is the second incident of a journalist being killed in India within a month. Senior journalist and activist, Gauri Lankesh, was gunned down outside her home in Bangalore on September 5, 2017 leading to widespread protests and concern over the security of journalists in the country.

Nigerian man arrested among ten other in Thailand for drug

Over ten drug-dealing suspects including a Nigerian national have been arrested in recent raids in Thailand. Deputy National Police Commissioner Pol General Chalermkiat Srivorakan told a press conference on Monday, in Bangkok that officers had so far this fiscal year confiscated 100 million yaba pills and more than 4,000 kilograms of “ice” worth Bt7.6 billion.  Chalermkiat said police arrested Charles Ndubuisi Umemma, a 34-year-old Nigerian national, who was wanted on a court-ordered arrest warrant. Umemma, who was apprehended in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi district on Saturday, September 16, faces charges of obtaining and possessing “ice” with intent to sell and send to Australia. Police had found that he tried to send 120 grams of “ice” to Sydney.  Chalermkiat also said Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) officers had arrested five Hmong suspects in Chiang Rai on Saturday while they were allegedly transporting 6,392,000 yaba pills from Chiang Rai to Ayutthaya in a 10-wheel truck. Lagos announces restriction on Ikorodu road, fix fadeyi pedestrian bridge

Today, the Lagos State Government announced that there would be a partial restriction of movement on Ikorodu Road to enable it replace the dilapidated and disused steel pedestrian bridge at Fadeyi Bus Stop with a new footbridge.  In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Olujimi Hotonu, the State Government said the main carriage lanes of the Ikorodu Road would be closed to traffic for two nights on Saturday, 23rd September, between 11pm and 6am, and Sunday 24th between 11pm and 4am, while the service lanes will be open to traffic.  The Government also said all traffic both inward Lagos and outward Ojota will be diverted to the service lanes. While soliciting for the cooperation and support of all road users especially motorists plying the corridor to observe all the precaution signs on the road, the State Government said it had put in place effective traffic management strategies to manage the traffic during the period of closu

33 Year Old Woman Arrested For Stealing At Super Market

Court Strikes Out Fraud Charge Bearing Diezani’s Name

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, in a ruling, struck out the eighth count after hearing an application by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke, who had alleged that she was indicted in the particular count, yet was not given the opportunity to defend herself. The six, named as defendants in the case included, Omokore, his two companies, Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited. The other defendants are a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, Victor Briggs; a former Group Executive Director, Exploration and Production of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Abiye Membere; and a former Manager, Planning and Commercial of the NNPC, David Mbanefo. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had preferred nine counts of criminal diversion of about $1.6bn alleged to be part of proceeds of sales of petroleum products belonging to the Federal Government, against the six defendants.
