The Ekiti State govern aborts the burial of late Moji Olaiya in Canada, her funeral moved to Nigeria.  Instead his government has agreed to foot the cost/bill of bringing her body to Nigeria for burial, according to various reports. The popular actress, 42, suddenly died on Wednesday following cardiac arrest, two months after she gave birth to her second daughter. Her eldest daughter, Adunola, 18, had insisted that her mother’s corpse should be brought back to Nigeria. ‘She must be brought back. ‘I don’t care what anybody says, I just want my mother’s body’, a grieving Adun had said on Thursday. Faithia Williams Balogun was named yesterday as chairperson of a 10-man burial committee, that also included a host of Nollywood acts, NAN reports. Moji, 42, died almost exactly two years after her younger brother, Abidemi Olaiya, passed on. He died on May 4, 2015.

Nigerian Couple Find Guilty In The UK For Slavery Nigerian couple based in London, were on Friday convicted by a Southwark Crown Court in London for trafficking a “slave nanny” into the United Kingdom from Nigeria . Judge Martin Beddoe warned that Ayodeji Adewakun, a 44- year old medical doctor and wife,  Abimbola Adewakun, a 48 -year old nurse, face “a significant sentence of immediate imprisonment.” They were granted bail until June 16 when they will be sentenced. The couple had lured the woman to the UK from Nigeria with promise of £500 per monthly salary. They confiscated the woman’s passport as soon as she arrived in February 2007 and subjected her to  “constant demands and verbal abuse.”She managed to escape two years later after finally receiving  just £350 – the equivalent of a wage of £15 a month. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has directed the resumption of 24-hour operations at the Apapa port and outrightly banned touting by officials or unofficial persons at any port; be it air, land and sea ports in Nigeria. Prof. Osinbajo had on Thursday signed three Executive Orders dealing with the business environment, local content in public procurement and timely budget submission. The Orders take effect immediately. Late Senator Adeleke Nurse,Alfred Aderibigbe, the man who administered several injections on Osun senator, Isiaka Adekele, shortly before his death, has testified before the Coroner inquest into the lawmaker’s, saying he was only one of many nurses the politician had in Lagos and Abuja. Giving evidence at the inquest on Thursday in Yoruba, Mr. Aderibgbe said Mr. Adeleke consulted him for the past 20 years on matters relating to his health. He was led in evidence by his counsel, Lekan Alabi. According to Mr. Aderibigbe, he first met Mr. Adeleke 20 years ago while working as a nurse at the State Hospital, Ede. He said he had attended to Mr. Adeleke’s daughter who was rushed to the hospital under convulsive condition, adding that the senator then appreciated his effort with a cash gift. A man who allegedly specializes in removing corpses from graves and severing human parts for ritual purposes has been arrested by the police at Kaoje in Bagudo area of Kebbi State. Danbaba Umaru, a father of 10 children, said he started the act because he needed to cater for his large family. Reports says that, the 37-year old man was said to have gone to one of the burial grounds at Kaoje around 3:30 am early in the week, exhumed the remains of a man from the grave, severed the parts and took some of it away. Briefing newsmen on Thursday at the police command in Birnin Kebbi, Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim M. Kabiru, said a tip off on the crime led the police to where the man was arrested.
