Society for Family Health (SFH) has disclosed that Nigerians consume over 400 million condoms annually. Speaking in Lagos on Tuesday during the launch of Flex condom, SFH’s Managing Director, Bright Ekweremadu, said that the 400 million condom consumption may still be far below the NGO’s estimation going by the rate of unprotected sex in the country. He said the new brand of condom which comes with a lot of flavours, has more strength and could last longer during the period. “We have been in the business of condom production for over 30 years. We have done a lot of things in educating people to embrace abstinence with our zip-up campaign. There are obviously sexually active Nigerians who may not totally abstain from sex and this led to our alternative, particularly at this time when HIV/AIDs is prevalent in the country,” he said. Ekweremadu added that the Society would continue to make condoms available to Nigerians at affordable prices because they are subsidized by donor agencies.

Adefarasin was apparently reacting to a controversial comment by an OAP named Freeze, who said no Nigerian Prophet, Pastor or General Overseer, GO, is qualified to receive tithes from their members.   Suspected  Billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, better known as Evans,  has asked a Lagos state high court to grant him bail. Evans is being tried on several  counts of criminal charges bothering on alleged conspiracy, murder and kidnapping. At the resumed sitting of his trial on Friday, he also asked the court to give his  case an accelerated hearing. His bail application was, however, opposed by the  persecuting counsel who described it as an abuse of court process and an attempt  to frustrate the trial. Police say two men were killed and a woman was injured in a shooting inside a suburban Denver Walmart. Thornton police tweeted Wednesday night they were responding to a shooting with “multiple parties down.” They advised people to stay away from the area as dozens of emergency vehicles converged at the store. Multiple people described hiding in the Walmart before being evacuated by police. Investigators have not released any details about the circumstances of the shooting or the condition of the injured woman. A federal high court in Lagos has rejected an application by Diezani Alison-Madueke, seeking to appear before it as a defendant in a money laundering trial. Alison-Madueke is seeking to be joined in the money laundering suit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Mohammed Belgore, a senior advocate of Nigeria, and Abubakar Suleiman, a former minister of national planning. The former minister, who is currently in the UK, had asked the court to include her as a defendant in the four counts in which she is mentioned. She had also asked the court to compel the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice to facilitate her return to the country for the case. But the court, at its sitting on Wednesday, rejected her application while describing it as “misuse of court processes”. Rilwan Aikawa, the presiding judge, said he will not be used to obstruct the former minister’s trial in the UK where she is being prosecuted for alleged fraud.

Sambo Dasuki on Wednesday said he won’t be able to testify in the ongoing trial of Olisa Metuh, former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP due to ‘memory loss’. Dasuki’s counsel, Ahmed Raji told the court that his client cannot testify at the sitting on Wednesday. He said Dasuki needs access to “relevant files, records and documents required to refresh his memory of any decisions or actions he took or authorised in the course of his duties”, after spending about two years in DSS custody.  Raji urged the judge to hold on in the course of the proceeding pending the determination of Dasuki’s appeal in the case.  Emeka Etiaba, Metuh’s counsel, agreed with Dasuki’s plea. Metuh had requested that Jonathan and Dasuki appear as witnesses in his money laundering case.

The Command Anti-Kidnapping Unit acting on information arrested the suspects below in connection with the fake kidnap of Chisom John Kennedy Igbokwe at Spibat Road Akwakuma in Owerri North L.G.A. According to court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Katherine has filed  papers to hand over sole guardianship of Blanket (real name: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr.)  to Tito Joe "TJ" Jackson, Blanket's 39-year-old cousin. Katherine is no longer needed to fulfill the duties that were necessary when joint-guardians  were appointed," the documents state. "Given her own age [87] and the fact that [Blanket]  is now 15 years old, Katherine feels that TJ is able to assume all necessary responsibilities  of the guardianship for the Minor Child." Along with TJ, Katherine was appointed joint legal guardian of all three of Michael's  children -- Blanket, Paris and Prince -- on Sept. 14, 2012, following the King of Pop's  tragic death.
