242.4B Naira, Needed For The 2019 General Elections- Buhari

This was disclosed in a letter to the Senate on Tuesday which was read on the floor during plenary. According to report ,Buhari, implementing a budget of N9.12 trillion for 2018 would be extremely challenging and therefore did not consider it expedient to increase the 2018 budget to accommodate the funds needed for the 2019 General Elections. The president asked the National Assembly to transfer the funds appropriated for the new projects which were inserted in the 2018 budget to cover the sum of N228.8 billion for the elections. A Chief Magistrate Court in Akure ordered the police to remand Adeyemi Alao, the killer of Khadijat Oluboyo, daughter of the former Ondo deputy governor, Lasisi Oluboyo,  in prison. He was arrested few weeks ago for allegedly murdering Khadija, his girlfried of eight years and burying her remains in his room for money ritual.  Mary Adebayo, the prosecutor told the court that Alao and others at large conspired to strangle Khadijat to death and buried her in his room. She told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 1st at about 7:30 pm at Aratunsi Street, Oke-Aro, Akure. According to Mary, the offence was contrary to and punishable under Sections 324 and 316 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37, Vol. I Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006. She moved a motion that the accused person should be remanded in prison custody pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). Gov Fayose Collapses After Reportedly Being Teargas

His Special Adviser on Public Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka who confirmed the incident on Twitter said Fayose was teargassed by the policemen who laid siege at the Governement House and was now receiving treatment at the Government House’s clinic.   Lere on Twitter wrote, ”Gov Fayose, a few minutes ago escaped plot to assassinate him by Fayemi and his APC. ”He is currently receiving treatment at govt house clinic after he was hit by teargas canister fired by the policemen. ”The armed policeme are laying siege at the Govt House.  The DIG in charge of operations Joshak Habila cited prevention of breakdown of law and order as the reason for the siege.

25-year-old marriage dissolved over threat to life, lack of respect

An  Customary Court  in Orile Agege in Lagos on Thursday dissolved a 25-year-old marriage between Idris Balogun and his wife, Abosede over threat to life and lack of love. The Court President, Mr P.A. Williams, held that the marriage had broken down irretrievably and he had no choice but to dissolve the union. “The marriage between Abosede and Idris Balogun is hereby dissolved, they shall cease to be husband and wife and go their separate ways,’’ he said. The  children were to  remain in their mother’s custody until the Ikeja Family Court says otherwise. “Idris should pay N350, 000 into Abosede’s account to enable her to settle down, ” he said. Olisa Metuh Arrives Court In Ambulance

A former spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, today arrived the Federal High Court, Abuja, venue of his ongoing corruption trial on a stretcher after being taken down from an ambulance. Mr. Metuh’s lawyer had, at the last adjourned date, informed the court presided by Justice Okon Abang that his client was at the Nnamdi Azikiwe specialist hospital for treatment on spinal cord complications.   The lawyers, led by Onyeachi Ikpeazu, asked for a long adjournment after presenting the hospital’s medical report on Mr. Metuh’s health condition. But Mr. Abang refused the application for a long adjournment and threatened to allow the application made by the prosecution for the revocation of Mr. Metuh’s bail if Mr. Metuh was not in court on Monday. However, on seeing the spokesperson in court on a stretcher on Monday morning, the judge adjourned the matter till March 15th. From premium times

Retired Air Force Officer And His driver Reportedly Dead

A retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) and his driver have recovered dead after their Ford Explorer Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) plunged into the lagoon Saturday night. A motorist had told The Nation that: “There was a vehicle inside the lagoon. People are trapped in it. The vehicle was heading into Lagos Island. Fishermen and LASEMA are trying to safe the occupants of the vehicle now. May God help them. The deceased were said to be driving inward Lagos Island, when they colluded with another vehicle on the bridge. As a result of the accident, the SUV, it was gathered, tumbled several times before skidding into the lagoon. It was learnt that officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and local fishermen recovered the bodies from the submerged vehicle around 2:30am. Police Breaks Eko Electricity Worker’s Leg For Disconnecting Ex-IG’s Flow Of Electricity

The mobile policeman, Attah Aninoko, on Thursday dragged down Ogundele from an electric pole opposite the house and beat him up for disconnecting power to the house of the former IG.  Ogundele’s leg was allegedly broken by the sergeant, who was reported to have boasted that “nothing will happen.” The matter was said to have been reported to the police at the Ikoyi division and the sergeant was arrested. The Head of Corporate Communications Department, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Mr. Godwin Idemudia, who confirmed the incident, said the sergeant had been detained. He explained that the house of the former IG owed a bill of N154,693.85, adding that the name on the bill was one Yusuf. Idemudia said because the policeman was armed, other officials of the electricity distribution company were helpless and could only watch their colleague being brutalised. The Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria and the commercial banks to disclose all accounts in their custody and the balances in such accounts. It also made an interim order directing the banks to freeze all the said accounts by stopping “all outward payments, operations or transactions” pending the hearing of the substantive application seeking the forfeiture of the balances in the accounts to the Federal Government.  Bank secretaries and legal teams of the 19 banks are scheduled to hold an emergency meeting to fashion out their plan for compliance. Singer, Abiye David Jumbo popularly known as Mr. 2Kay was robbed at gun point in his hotel room at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The incident happened at about 11pm on Sunday, October 22, 2017, during the Buckwyld and Breathless concert where he also performed. The robbers, 4 in number, gained access into Mr. 2Kay’s room after he mistook one of them for room service. They forced their way into his room and waved a gun with threats to shoot him if he made a noise.  Mr. 2Kay, who was in the room with a friend, struggled with one of the robbers, as the others punched and hit him with a gun, repeatedly warning that they will shoot if he doesn’t calm down. Unknown to many Nigerians, the kidnapping kingpin had allegedly tried to escape from his cell in Abuja after he was transferred from Lagos. A source told The Nation Newspapers of Evans’ plan to give between $50,000 and $100,000 to one of the guards manning his cell to facilitate his escape. The source said Evans was allegedly coordinating his escape bid with some members of his gang by telephone which he obtained through “suspicious” means. She expressed the view at the stakeholders meeting on Reproductive, Maternal, New Born, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH and N) in Abuja. The Police Command in Ebonyi had confirmed that Chinedu Linus, a student of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki, was killed by gunmen on Friday. .  The Spokesperson of the command, ASP Loveth Odah, said that the gunmen robbed Linus and subsequently killed him. “I urge students not to confront robbers or any person bearing arms whenever they are attacked because such a person was no longer normal. .  It is only a living person that makes use of valuables as no amount of valuables in ones’ possession can equate to life,” she said.
