  Few days back, Nollywood veteran actress, Eucharia Anunobi lost her son to sickle cell anemia, and the heartbroken mom has opened up on how she is coping with the loss. She told Saturday Beats; “Thank you very much for sympathising with me. I am going to miss everything about my son. Now, there would be no one that would call me to say ‘Mummy where are you? You said you would be home by 7:30 and now it is 7:45. You are 15 minutes late.’ That was how close we were and he was my best friend. I cannot talk much now because I am in the hospital but once I am free, we would talk better”.

A Nigerian man who disappeared after impregnating girlfriend Rosemary who he persuaded to abort the pregnancy without success, reportedly resurfaced at their son’s baptism. Cambodian Woman Becomes US Citizen, Aged 103 Year Old

A 103-year-old Cambodian woman who survived starvation, suffering and war in her  native land beamed and waved a tiny American flag on Tuesday as she became  a  United States citizen. Hong Inh was the oldest of more than 10,000 people who took the oath of allegiance in a cavernous room at the downtown Convention Center in Los Angeles. She came to the United States when she was about 97 years old to join a daughter and other relatives. Three generations of her family, from her 80-year-old daughter Hieng Meng to 13-year-old great-granddaughter Melissa Tea were on hand for the ceremonies. She has 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren living in the U.S. and Cambodia. Her relatives helped Hong Inh up from a wheelchair and she stood with a flag in her raised hand to receive the oath. Brazil football legend, Roberto Carlos to go to jail for delaying child support

The Court of Justice in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil has ordered the arrest of former Real Madrid left-back Roberto Carlos because of a delay in the payment of three months of alimony for two of his children. The mother of Carlos’ children, Barbara Thurler, had filed a lawsuit that 61,000 real (£15,148) was owed. The 44-year-old Carlos claimed to be in financial difficulties and offered to pay 35,000 real with the rest coming in installments of 2,000 real, but that offer was turned down by the court. The former Brazilian international is currently working for Real Madrid as an ambassador. He cannot be arrested and detained because he does not live in Brazil, unless an international arrest warrant is issued. However, a statement issued on behalf of the former football player said all his legal duties had been fulfilled and he had “made the payment of the alimony related to June on Aug. 3,” adding that the money owed for July has also bee paid.

More than three people were killed on Saturday in a protest by Owerri natives following the demolition of the Eke Onunwa market by the state government.  The situation escalated when one of the protesters, a young man, was hit and killed by a stray bullet fired by security operatives deployed to maintain order in the melee which ensued after the demolition. Following the death of the protester, Owerri natives proceeded to set fire to the property belonging to some residents. This led to a fight between the residents and those protesters resulting in the death of two others.
