Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of England international Kyle Walker. The right-back joins from Tottenham on a five-year deal and has opted to take the number two shirt. Chelsea have signed midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from French champions Monaco in a reported £40m deal. The 22-year-old France international has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League champions. He becomes Chelsea’s second major summer signing after they brought in defender Antonio Rudiger from Roma. Bakayoko joined Monaco from Ligue 1 rivals Rennes in 2014 and made his France debut in a friendly defeat by Spain in March this year. He was part of the Monaco squad that reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, going out of the competition to Juventus. Bakayoko, who will wear the number 14 shirt at Chelsea, said: “I am very happy to be here and to join this great team. “I have grown up watching Chelsea. Governor Ayo Fayose, said he would have burnt his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership card if the court had declared Ali Modu Sheriff chairman of the party. He said that he would have also destroyed the party’s flag in his possession. Fayose, who returned to the state on Friday after the Wednesday’s Supreme Court session, stated this while addressing PDP supporters in Ado-Ekiti. He said that he would have destroyed his membership card of the party and the flag right at the court premises if the verdict had been in favour of Sheriff. “I never imagined myself being in the same party with impostors,” he said. The governor, however, said that Sheriff and his followers had been forgiven but won’t go scot-free for causing the party members so much pain. “I went to court with a perfume which I wanted to use to spray my cards and party flags and set them ablaze even within the court premises if Sheriff had won; that was why I went to court.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says the Federal government is planning to stop entertainers from shooting movies and music videos outside Nigeria. According to the Minister, conducting shoots outside Nigeria does not help grow our economy but rather, it helps grow that of the country where such shoots are being done. Lai disclosed this when he  paid a visit to the headquarters of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) today July 15th.  “This government has agreed that henceforth, whatever we consume in Nigeria in terms of music and films, must be made in Nigeria. We cannot continue to go to South Africa or any other country to produce our films and then send them back to be consumed in Nigeria. The Broadcasting Code and the Advertising Code are very clear on this. An operative of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, killed a bystander and injuring a police sergeant in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State. According to Daily Post Nigeria, The incident occurred when Jigawa Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, sought reinforcement from the NSCDC personnel after clash with members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW. According to an eyewitness, hoodlums immediately invaded the scene and descended on the FRSC officials. The police in Lagos have arrested one Ufom Udoh for allegedly staging his kidnap in order to fleece his sibling. The incident occurred on July 3, at Liverpool, Apapa. . It was gathered that one Victor Udoh, had reported at the police command that his younger brother was kidnapped by unknown persons. According to the command’s spokesman, Olarinde Famous-Cole, the case was referred to the anti-kidnapping unit and they swung into action. . According to TheNation, he said the unit traced all calls the complainant got on his phone, adding that it led to the arrest of one Paul Okiemute, who reported the case at Udoh’s work place. A trusting wife thought her husband had a pleasant surprise for her when he blindfolded her, not knowing that the surprise was far from pleasant. Hawa Akhter, 21, was told by her husband, Rafiqul Islam, 30, that he was going to give her a surprise present, so she allowed him blindfold her and tape her mouth. A 67-year-old man identified as Aminu Bello, aka Babangidan Kosai, for sexually assaulting his childhood friend and neighbor’s 8 years old grand-daughter in Gaida Fadama quarters arrested by police in Kano State. Spokesperson for the Command, SP magaji Musa Majiya, who disclosed in a statement said that the septuagenarian rapist lured the girl after dashing her four-hundred naira (N400). He said the suspect had confessed to the crime and would be charged to court for rape when the police concludes its investigation which is already in progress.

Anambra State Police Command on Saturday, July 8, arrested a 24-year-old mother Oluchi Emeobi, of Nnewi Ichi, Nnewi local government Area of the state for selling her two months old baby. The suspect conspired with her 26 year old female friend ,Nchedoch Richard, and sold her two months old baby to a woman popularly known as First Lady, who is now at large. In order to conceal her dastardly act, the suspect reported at the Police Station under false pretense that she left her baby under the custody of a  yet to be ascertained woman who absconded with the baby to unknown destination.  Exhibits recovered from the principal suspect include: The sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (250,000) cash and one motorcycle the suspect allegedly bought with part of the money realized from the sale of her baby.  The case is under investigation and effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect and recover the baby.
