“Senator Stella Oduah returned for the second round of questioning on Wednesday.  After intense grilling, she was allowed to go home on the condition that she turns in  her passport to the EFCC”, a senior official at the anti-graft agency told Punch newspaper. “She was asked to return to the EFCC on a future date for more questioning”,  the official reportedly added. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday re-arraigned a former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, and two others in an Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan over alleged N11.5 billion fraud. EFCC’s counsel, Dr B. Ubi, told the court that when Alao-Akala was the governor of Oyo State, he awarded a road contract worth N8.5 billion between 2007 and 2009 to Pentagon Engineering Services. Ubi alleged that the firm owned by Babalola handled the contract on behalf of the 33 local governments without budgetary provision. The counsel further claimed that Alao-Akala ordered the supply of drilling machines on behalf of the 33 local governments in the state to the tune of N3.5 billion.  The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. About 700 churches have been closed down in Rwanda for failing to comply with building regulations and for noise pollution.  Most of them are small Pentecostal churches. One mosque was also closed.  A government official told the BBC that some of the more than 700 buildings shut down have already reopened after they were approved by inspectors.  According to a proposed new law, all preachers must have theological training before opening a church. Pentecostal churches, often run by charismatic preachers claiming to be able to perform miracles, have grown rapidly in many parts of Africa in recent years.  Some are massive, attracting thousands of worshippers each Sunday, but others consist of tiny structures built without planning permission. Women in Ghana have been warned against a growing trend for taking pills during pregnancy to lighten the skin of their unborn babies while they are still in the womb. Medical experts say these illegal drugs can cause birth defects, including damage to limbs and internal organs. Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) says using Glutathione pills for this purpose is dangerous, adding it wants "the general public to know that no product has been approved by the FDA in the form of a tablet to lighten the skin of the unborn child”. The practice is growing in Ghana, according to the FDA, with pills often smuggled into the country inside luggage at airports in large quantities. A California couple was arrested after it was discovered their three children were living inside a box, officials said. Deputies made the gruesome discovery while conducting an area check in Joshua Tree, according to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. They found "a travel trailer, which appeared to be abandoned, and a large rectangular box made of plywood on the property," the release reads. "The property had no electricity or running water. Several large holes and mounds of trash and human feces were located throughout the property." Dozens of cats were found roaming the property as well. While there, deputies encountered three children, ages 11, 13 and 14, according to the release. Investigators determined the three victims had been living in the rectangular box -- which measured 20 feet long by 4 feet high by 10 feet wide -- for about four years.
