Seven Nigerians are presently assisting authorities in Thailand in their investigations after they were arrested with 100 marriage visas. According to reports from the Asian country claimed the Nigerians, who were arrested alongside two Afghan nationals, were nabbed at the Chaengwattana Immigration office on Wednesday. They were alleged to have paid Thai women THB5,000 each (about $150) to register phoney marriages. Immigration officials were said to have noticed irregularities when the nine men attempted to clear paperwork identifying 100 foreigners as single and thus eligible for marriage, Daily News reported. Reports said investigations showed that members of this syndicate convinced Thai ladies whom they met on Social media mainly Facebook to enter into a fake marriage arrangement with them in order to obtain resident visas which allow them to remain in Thailand for a longer period of time. The Independent National Electoral Commission officially notified Senator Dino Melaye, informing him of petitions signed by the people of his constituency to recall him from the Senate. The petition signed by 188, 588 voters, was delivered to INEC office yesterday. The National Commissioner and Member of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, INEC says the next step is to verify the registered voters in the petition. “In accordance with the INEC guidelines for the recall of members of the National Assembly, the Commission has formally acknowledged the receipt of the petition to the petitioners’ representatives and has conveyed a letter notifying Senator Melaye of our receipt of the petition. The next step is to verify that the petitioners are registered voters in the Kogi West Senatorial District". A lawmaker, Rep. Rimamnde Shawulu (Taraba-PDP), has called for increased international cooperation in Nigeria’s bid to stop kidnapping and attacks by herdsmen. Shawulu, who is the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Army, said in Abuja on Thursday that the attacks were endanger the lives and property of Nigerians. “The sorry thing about the situation is that there are international dimensions to the kidnapping and to the herdsmen problems that we have across the country and we are hoping that there will be international cooperation. “What we have done from our own angle in the national assembly is to consider and increase where appropriate the money that is needed for the security agencies.’’ The lawmaker added that the attacks and kidnapping remained major threats to the Nigerian economy. President Donald Trump said in a speech on Wednesday night that he would soon introduce legislation that immigrants to America should not receive welfare benefits for at least five years. The new measure will stipulate that "those seeking admission into our country must be able to support themselves financially and should not use welfare for a period of at least five years," Trump said as the crowd of thousands at the campaign-style rally exploded into extended applause. A Ghanaian man who was arrested back in April after revealing to his female friend that he was a terrorist and intend to blow up her University of Massachusetts dormitory pleaded guilty on Monday to a single charge of threatening to commit a crime. Abdul F. Ismail entered the plea in Eastern Hampshire Court, admitting to his role in the April 11 incident, Masslive reported. The judge placed his conviction "on file" for the next 12 months, which implies that no sentence will be imposed if he stays out of trouble over that time. Female suspected kidnapper has been caught in Lagos.  but this time it's a female. The suspect was caught yesterday in Ikorodu, Lagos as she tried to steal a little girl from her mother's room. The child's mother walked in on her chanting incantations on the child and she raised alarm. People gathered and helped her pin the woman down. The woman, who is in her early 30s, was beaten after which she allegedly confessed that a man sent her on the mission and she's usually paid N500,000 for each child she kidnaps. 

Men of the Imo State Police Command arrested a female member of a six-man  armed robbery gang on Tuesday. One suspect simply identified as 'Wee Wee' was shot dead during the ensuing gun battle while four escaped. The female suspect identified as Comfort Okon, 28,  from Akwa Ibom State and her gang members had robbed a location in 7up depot in Orlu, Imo State.  Residents of the area raised an alarm which led to an immediate response by a team of police officers. The gunmen engaged the policemen in shootout. At the end four fled, one was killed and the woman arrested. Confirming the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Chris Ezike, said one AK 47 rifle, a motorcycle and the sum of N193,980 were recovered from the gunmen. More pictures below.

Driver charged to court for slapping and threatened officers with a wheel spanner. He also tore the police uniform. A 35-year-old bus driver, Amos Alade  allegedly slapped a policeman and threatened another with a wheel spanner, on Wednesday appeared in an Apapa Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. The driver was brought before the court on a two-count charge of assault and threatening violence. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecutor, Sergeant Olusegun Kokoye, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 15 at Bakare Garage, Cardoso Street, Kirikiri Town, Apapa, Lagos. He said that Alade assaulted one of the complainants, Augustine Odey, by slapping him and tearing his police uniform while performing his lawful duty. Kokoye also said that the accused threatened to use a wheel spanner to hit another police officer, Edwin Ugwugbo who tried to settle the dispute. Aishat Akintunde, 33, has been arrested in Lagos for allegedly defrauding her Facebook lover of money and properties valued at about N5 million. Police alleged that Akintunde,  a resident of Egbado road, Dalemo, Alakuko, Alagbada, Lagos and hailed from Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria allegedly succeeded in defrauding her France-based victim, Ayobami Adeniyi after she promised to marry him and also helped him purchase a filling station in Nigeria. Beyonce gave birth since last week Monday at a hospital in Los Angeles but has not been discharged since then reportedly due to a problem with the twins.  TMZ reveals that the "minor issue" is that the twins were born prematurely and as such, they need to be monitored and kept "under the lights" for them to normalise. Usually, when babies are born with jaundice, they are kept under a phototherapy light or under a sun lamp. Babies with jaundice have elevated bilirubin levels and the lights under which these babies are kept are designed to lower bilirubin in the blood to eliminate the jaundice. Exposing the baby to sunlight through a window also helps in lowering the bilirubin level as is done in most cases in Nigeria.
