Society for Family Health (SFH) has disclosed that Nigerians consume over 400 million condoms annually. Speaking in Lagos on Tuesday during the launch of Flex condom, SFH’s Managing Director, Bright Ekweremadu, said that the 400 million condom consumption may still be far below the NGO’s estimation going by the rate of unprotected sex in the country. He said the new brand of condom which comes with a lot of flavours, has more strength and could last longer during the period. “We have been in the business of condom production for over 30 years. We have done a lot of things in educating people to embrace abstinence with our zip-up campaign. There are obviously sexually active Nigerians who may not totally abstain from sex and this led to our alternative, particularly at this time when HIV/AIDs is prevalent in the country,” he said. Ekweremadu added that the Society would continue to make condoms available to Nigerians at affordable prices because they are subsidized by donor agencies....

  Suspected  Billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, better known as Evans,  has asked a Lagos state high court to grant him bail. Evans is being tried on several  counts of criminal charges bothering on alleged conspiracy, murder and kidnapping. At the resumed sitting of his trial on Friday, he also asked the court to give his  case an accelerated hearing. His bail application was, however, opposed by the  persecuting counsel who described it as an abuse of court process and an attempt  to frustrate the trial. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. The church uses the favorite alcoholic brand of the members instead of water That’s not all, the congregants at the Gabola Church have also been given a go-ahead to drink alcohol during church services. 52 year old Bishop Tsietsi Makiti, is the founder of the church and is the brains behind the idea. Due to the beer baptization, Bishop Makiti’s church has witnessed its membership rocket to over 500 members in just under two months. He says he was motivated by the scriptures narrating how Jesus changed water to wine. He added; People who drink and get baptized by beer are happy and peaceful. This means they are living in the shadow of God. The church accommodates people who are not welcome at other churches. Its name ‘Gabola’ is the Tswana word for drinking. Their names are Ada Keating and Tom and the two are inseparable. They love spending as much time with each other, playing games in the home or watching the show Emmerdale. They have an incredible bond with each other, as Tom never ended up getting married and always lived with his mother Ada. Tom went to a residential home in 2016 at the Moss View care home in Liverpool. He went because he needed more care and support. A video making the rounds on social media, shows the public officers arguing before Osinbajo. Sources in the presidency say that President Buhari after the Federal Executive Council meeting, summoned Oyo-Ita and Kyari to his office. Police say two men were killed and a woman was injured in a shooting inside a suburban Denver Walmart. Thornton police tweeted Wednesday night they were responding to a shooting with “multiple parties down.” They advised people to stay away from the area as dozens of emergency vehicles converged at the store. Multiple people described hiding in the Walmart before being evacuated by police. Investigators have not released any details about the circumstances of the shooting or the condition of the injured woman. Special agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are headed to the scene to help police. A call to the Thornton Police Department went unanswered. from AP

A federal high court in Lagos has rejected an application by Diezani Alison-Madueke, seeking to appear before it as a defendant in a money laundering trial. Alison-Madueke is seeking to be joined in the money laundering suit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Mohammed Belgore, a senior advocate of Nigeria, and Abubakar Suleiman, a former minister of national planning. The former minister, who is currently in the UK, had asked the court to include her as a defendant in the four counts in which she is mentioned. She had also asked the court to compel the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice to facilitate her return to the country for the case. But the court, at its sitting on Wednesday, rejected her application while describing it as “misuse of court processes”. Rilwan Aikawa, the presiding judge, said he will not be used to obstruct the former minister’s trial in the UK where she is being prosecuted for alleged fraud. ...
