Hours after the killing of over 100 people in Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos South Local Government Areas, the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has ordered the sacking of the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Undie Adie, with immediate effect. He was replaced by Yobe state-born Bala Ciroma, who was until his new position the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department. A terse statement issued on Tuesday by the Spokesperson of Plateau State Police Command, Matthias Tyopev, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, neither gave reasons for the removal nor explained his new posting. About 373 illegal pharmacies and patent medicine stores have been shutdown by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria in Ogun State for various offences. The Director, Inspection and Monitoring Department, PCN, Mrs. Anthonia Aruya, revealed this on Friday in Abeokuta, while briefing journalists about the activities of the council. : : Giving the breakdown, she said 15 pharmacies and 358 patent stores were affected. Mrs. Aruya said the action became necessary to save the public from purchasing drugs from unregistered outlets. : : According to her , “The PCN’s enforcement teams have been in Ogun State from the beginning of the week.
